ERBIL, Iraq โ€” Four drones crashed in areas of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday morning, with no casualties reported, according to local sources. The unmanned aircraft fell in the Halifan, Soran and Harir districts, while two of the drones struck positions belonging to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), an Iranian opposition group, on the Belisan hills in Kirkuk province. A KDPI official said the attack on the Belisan positions caused no deaths or injuries but resulted in material damage and a large fire. Firefighting teams were dispatched to the area to contain the blaze. The same KDPI official said the party's positions had been targeted previously, with more than 100 attacks carried out on its headquarters, military sites, camps and civilian facilities in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. Iranian opposition parties maintain camps and military installations in the Kurdistan Region where their families also reside. According to official figures cited in the report, the region has faced more than 1,000 missile and drone strikes, most of them targeting opposition party sites, international coalition positions and oil facilities.
