BAQUBA, Iraq โ An investigation has been opened into a fire that broke out early Wednesday at an oil-protection brigade site on the outer outskirts of Baquba, the capital of Diyala province, according to a source with the Diyala police directorate.
The source said the blaze spread to three tankers carrying crude oil and gasoline. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and forensic teams dispatched to the scene have begun examining the conditions that led to the outbreak.
Diyala firefighting crews extinguished the flames. No casualties or injuries were reported.
The fire followed a similar incident the previous day at crude oil tanks serving brick factories in the Nahrawan area, southeast of Baghdad.
