Sulaymaniyah to host first international cancer conference in February 2027

SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq โ Sulaymaniyah will host its first international cancer conference on February 4-5, 2027, with more than 200 doctors and specialists expected to attend, according to Hรฎwa Hospital Director Dr. Yad Naqshibandi.
Naqshibandi said the two-day event will focus on cancer prevention, early diagnosis, treatment methods and scientific research. It is being organized under the supervision of the Sulaymaniyah Health Directorate and the Cancer Fund, with coordination by Sulaymaniyah University and the Elit organization.
The director said cancer treatment centers across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq will take part in the conference. He added that work is under way to launch artificial intelligence-supported cancer care services as part of the broader initiative.
Hรฎwa Hospital's management also plans to open a cancer treatment center affiliated with the hospital within the boundaries of Raparin Administrative Unit, following instructions from Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Naqshibandi said.
