FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has imposed heavy sanctions on Argentina's national team and players following incidents during the 2026 World Cup final against Spain. Midfielder Leandro Paredes received a 10-match ban and defender Nahuel Molina a seven-match ban, with each player also fined $90,000. Argentina's Thiago Almada and Spain's Gavi were each given a one-match suspension and $30,000 fine. Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala was banned for three matches and fined $30,000. The Argentine Football Association was fined $321,000 for breaches including the conduct of the team and its supporters, racism, unsporting behavior and the misuse of a sporting event. The committee also ordered that Argentina's next two home matches be played with stadiums filled to no more than 50 percent of capacity. The sanctions are subject to appeal under FIFA's disciplinary regulations.
