Bomb blast at Moscow restaurant kills three, injures 21

MOSCOW, Russia — An improvised explosive detonated at a restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow on August 1, 2026, at 7:55 p.m. local time, killing three people and wounding 21 others, Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee said. The committee said the device was a homemade bomb. Among the dead were a security guard and an unidentified woman suspected of attempting to bring the explosive into the restaurant, as well as a customer. The remaining victims were injured to varying degrees. Earlier, the Moscow Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry reported that the explosion near a cafe had killed three people and wounded 15. The higher casualty count was later confirmed by the anti-terrorism committee. Officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the blast and any links to wider networks.
