DHI QAR, Iraq โ Health authorities in Dhi Qar province have recorded 76 cases of hemorrhagic fever since the start of 2026, with six patients dying from complications of the disease, a source at the provincial health directorate said. The official reported that two new cases were detected in the past 48 hours and that most patients have been admitted to private isolation wards, treated by specialized medical teams and recovered.
The source said Dhi Qar has registered the highest number of hemorrhagic fever cases in Iraq this year. A joint commission set up by the Dhi Qar Health Directorate and the Veterinary Hospital has been carrying out intensive work to bring the outbreak under control.
The commission has carried out extensive disinfection of barns and livestock and applied preventive measures to curb transmission, the source added. No further details on the outbreak were immediately available.
