DHI QAR, Iraq — The Dhi Qar Criminal Court on Monday sentenced a worker at Nasiriyah Central Prison to 15 years in prison after finding that he smuggled mobile phones and other items to detainees inside the facility and cooperated with terrorist elements inside the prison.
A security source said the sentence was issued after the charges against the defendant were substantiated. The court based its ruling on Article 4 of Iraq’s Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005.
The case centered on the prisoner worker’s conduct inside Nasiriyah Central Prison, where investigators said he brought in prohibited items for inmates. No further details were immediately available.
