DHI QAR, Iraq — The Dhi Qar Provincial Council’s Health and Environment Committee said on Monday, June 1, 2026, that confirmed Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever cases in the province had risen to 53, including six deaths.
Committee chairman Ahmed al-Hafaci said Dhi Qar now has the highest number of cases in the country, especially among southern provinces. He said available resources are limited and are not enough to provide all the materials needed to fight the disease.
Al-Hafaci made a direct appeal to the prime minister to supply the chemicals needed for spraying and to equip the veterinary hospital. He said the province’s broad rural and agricultural areas make it necessary to strengthen preventive measures.
