Call for Disclosure Over Two Detained in Sulaymaniyah

The wife and brother of a political party leader were detained by a security force in Sulaymaniyah and taken to an unknown location, prompting demands for their whereabouts to be disclosed and for their lawyers to be allowed to meet them. The case has raised concern over a lack of official information about the detention site and the security unit that carried out the arrest. The 19 Coalition Network said the two were taken after phones were switched off during the detention and that the family learned of the raid from neighbors. It said official authorities have so far not disclosed where the pair are being held or which security unit conducted the operation. Party leader Karoç Seyid Rezgar rejected espionage accusations made against his wife. He said she cares for the couple's three children and has no official duties or social activity.
