Body of Peshmerga found four days after drowning at Erbil dam

ERBIL, Iraq โ The body of a 22-year-old Peshmerga fighter was recovered on Wednesday morning at Komespan Dam near Erbil, four days after he drowned, according to local authorities. Tovana Najm disappeared on Saturday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m. while at the dam.
Civil Defense teams, supported by volunteers, had been searching continuously since the day he went missing. The effort yielded no results for three days before searchers located the body near the dam area.
Najm, a resident of Horan village at the foot of Mount Sevin, was a member of the Peshmerga. His body was transferred to the Erbil Forensic Medicine Department for required procedures.
No further details on the circumstances of the drowning were immediately available.
