Iraq's National Security Service stopped an organized attempt to smuggle crude oil in Basra after intelligence monitoring on the main road between Basra and Dhi Qar uncovered a hidden pipeline more than 500 meters long linked to the main transport line.
Investigators determined that the underground pressure pipe was being used to steal and move crude oil illegally. During the operation, officers seized two tankers, one of which was trying to flee loaded with crude oil, while the other was waiting for the illicit shipment.
The seized vehicles and other materials were handed over to the relevant authorities for the necessary legal procedures.
