Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani will spend two days in Baghdad for talks with the Prime Minister, the Iraqi Parliament and political leaders, KDP member Vefa Mohammed said. The visit is set to focus on energy and oil issues, with discussions centered on security at oil fields and stronger protection for companies operating in the region.
Mohammed said the talks will also address cooperation on applying the same energy system used in Türkiye to the federal government. The agenda further includes efforts to reach agreements on the region’s salaries, economic coordination and customs cooperation.
The meetings are expected to form part of a broader push to narrow outstanding disputes between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. Energy arrangements, revenue mechanisms and administrative coordination remain key issues in the relationship between the two sides.
