Bahrain Sentences 9 Defendants to Life in Prison Over IRGC Links

Bahrain’s High Criminal Court sentenced nine defendants to life in prison and two others to three years each after finding they had planned terrorist and hostile acts against the kingdom in connection with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. The ruling also cited the collection of information on critical and important sites in Bahrain and the facilitation of financial transfers linked to the case. According to an official statement, the defendants gathered intelligence on sensitive locations across the country and helped process money transfers connected to the network. The case was handled as part of a broader security investigation into activities linked to the Revolutionary Guard. Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said on the 9th that 41 people had been detained, describing them as linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. Security units said they had uncovered a group associated with the Guard and were investigating files that also include cases involving expressions of sympathy for Iranian attacks. The investigation remains tied to wider security concerns in Bahrain over alleged external-backed plots and related support activity.
