Baghdad Protesters Demand Review of Contract Hiring Results

Dozens of people protested outside the Baghdad Governorate building over the results of the governorate’s contract hiring process, demanding that their files be reviewed again and that appeals alleging they were denied their rights be considered. The demonstration came as applicants pushed for a new review of the acceptance results and of the objections already submitted. Protesters called for the authorities to recheck the final results and examine the appeals in the hiring process. They said the selection process should be governed by fairness, transparency and equal opportunity. About 317 people who filed objections are said to have submitted appeals against the results. The protest underscored continuing disputes over recruitment procedures and the handling of complaints by applicants.
