Baghdad Municipality has put its service and staffing teams on alert for a broad public-cleanliness campaign ahead of Eid al-Adha, including a ban on random slaughter in the streets and on the uncontrolled presence of sheep and other small livestock in the capital. The measures are aimed at keeping public areas orderly during the holiday period and reducing health and sanitation risks. The municipality said that any violation of the rules will lead to the confiscation of animals, which will then be sold by auction. Cleanup work is also under way at mosques and husseiniyas before Eid prayers, while parks and gardens are being prepared to receive families and children. Crews are continuing cleaning and road-washing operations on main and secondary roads across the city. The municipality said Baghdad collects between 9,000 and 10,000 tons of waste each day. Cleaning teams are expected to remain in the field throughout the Eid holidays to maintain services and respond to increased demand across the capital.
