BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Baghdad Operations Command has banned the erection of condolence tents and temporary gatherings along the Duwaycha highway in the capital, citing the road's role as a main traffic artery. In a statement, the command said the measure was introduced after an increase in unauthorized assemblies and tent setups on the roadside, particularly during the month of Muharram and other religious commemorations.
The command said security forces would take the necessary steps to enforce the ban and initiate legal action against violators. It urged citizens to hold condolence and remembrance events in designated areas within the city and to obtain prior approval from the relevant authorities.
The statement added that inspections would continue in order to maintain road safety and public order. No further details were immediately available.
