Disputes over the division of Cabinet posts in Iraq continue to shake political alliances. It was announced that Ahmet Asadi has left the Construction and Development Coalition after failing to secure a ministerial quota.
Coalition officials described the departures as a form of "political cleansing" and said requests for new members have increased. They added that the number of MPs could rise beyond 45.
Some of the politicians who have withdrawn are said to be struggling to find new political sponsors, while their past maneuvers are now widely known. New political formations are appearing to place more value on credibility and consistency than on temporary bargaining.
