Vance says US Cuba policy will depend on Havana's response in coming days

Asked about US plans regarding Cuba, Vance told reporters: "We will see what they do; if they do something, we will do something. If they make reasonable decisions, our relationship with this administration will be much better." Separately, Cuba's government approved a new package of social and economic reforms aimed at easing economic hardship and improving living conditions under the US embargo, according to the official Granma newspaper. The United States has tightened political and economic pressure on Cuba in recent months. In January, President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing customs tariffs on countries that supply oil to Havana. Washington also declared a national emergency citing what it called a "Cuban security threat," a move that has escalated tensions between the two governments.
