WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — US Vice President JD Vance told CBS News on Wednesday that the United States is very close to reaching a long-term agreement regarding Iran's nuclear program. Vance stated that the primary objective of US policy is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons in the future.
Simultaneously, the US State Department announced new sanctions against 13 individuals and entities based in Iran, Belarus, and China. These measures, part of "Operation Economic Fury," target procurement networks attempting to supply weapons for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
President Donald Trump recently held a meeting in the White House situation room to evaluate new strike options against Iran. Trump asserted that Tehran has underestimated the US in talks aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East and stated he would launch strong attacks against the country.
Reports indicate that efforts by Qatar to bring the two nations to direct negotiations in Doha were unsuccessful after Iran rejected the proposal.
