US urges Israel to avoid direct conflict with Iran, Israeli media reports

TEHRAN, Iran — The United States has asked Israel not to enter a direct conflict with Iran, Israeli media reported. According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Israel's security establishment is preparing for possible escalation scenarios, with the military updating its air defense readiness, operational plans and its target database inside Iran. Israeli officials said any large-scale military response to Iran would be carried out in full coordination with the United States. Meanwhile, US Central Command said more than 300 Iranian targets were struck over three nights to degrade Tehran's ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, completing the latest operational round. Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and regular army announced they had launched ballistic missile and drone strikes on US bases and interests in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Oman. Separately, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone call to discuss the escalation with Iran, while the date of a previously announced bilateral summit has not yet been set.
