Kurdistan Region PM Barzani offers condolences to Qatar over Sheikh Hamad's death

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani sent a condolence message on Friday to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Emir of Qatar. In the message, Barzani described the late emir as a pioneering leader whose contributions supported Qatar's development and strengthened the country's role regionally and internationally. The Kurdistan Region's prime ministry said Sheikh Hamad's efforts would be remembered with respect. Barzani extended condolences to the Qatari people and government and wished patience and resilience for the family of the deceased. Qatar's Emiri Diwan announced earlier that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani had died at the age of 74. The Qatari government declared four days of official mourning in the country.
