TEHRAN, Iran โ A US official said the United States carried out strikes on Thursday targeting several bridges in Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The official said the bridges were struck to cut off supply routes to Bandar Abbas, which Iran has used to attack ships.
Iran's military command said on Thursday that it warned of consequences for any strikes on the country's facilities and that Tehran's response would not be limited to a comparable retaliation. The military said the response would be "stronger and more intense" if threats were carried out.
The US official's confirmation of the bridge targets came after that Iranian warning. No further details on the scope of the strikes or the specific bridges hit were immediately available.
