WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani's office (referred to in the source as Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Ali al-Zaydi) met with Chevron Corporation executives in Washington on Monday to discuss expanding the company's role in Iraq's oil sector. During the meeting at Chevron's headquarters with company president Mark Nelson and the board of directors, al-Zaydi was accompanied by Iraq's oil minister, electricity minister, head of the Advisory Council, advisors, and Iraq's ambassador to Washington.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Press Office, al-Zaydi asked Chevron to accelerate its operations in Iraq. The talks covered increasing crude oil production, expanding refinery capacity, and diversifying export routes.
Al-Zaydi told Chevron that the Iraqi government is prepared to provide the necessary permits and facilitation for refinery facilities and chemical industry infrastructure. Nelson, in turn, reiterated Chevron's interest in investment in southern Iraqi fields, laying pipelines to ports, and building storage facilities.
