DOHA, Qatar โ Qatar has denied Israeli media reports that it agreed to take part in a military operation against Iran, calling the claims baseless. The country's International Information Office said the allegations were being circulated by parties seeking to drag Qatar into the conflict, undermine its mediation efforts and raise regional tensions.
Qatari officials stressed that the country has not participated in any military action against a neighboring state since the start of the conflict and will not do so, according to the statement. Qatar has positioned itself as a mediator in recent regional diplomacy, including in indirect talks between Washington and Tehran.
Separately, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi said his country hosts no US military bases, rejecting Iranian claims to the contrary. Speaking at a panel, al-Safadi said US troops have long been present in Jordan as part of the campaign against ISIS, not for operations against Iran.
Al-Safadi added that Jordan is not a party to the conflict and that no one in the region wants a return to war. No further details were immediately available on either statement.
