BAGHDAD, Iraq โ U.S. Central Command said it launched a new wave of strikes against Iran at 3:00 p.m. local time on July 17, 2026, marking the seventh consecutive night of operations. The command said the strikes were carried out on the orders of the U.S. armed forces commander-in-chief and were aimed at continuing to degrade Iran's military capabilities.
Separately, the Kuwaiti Army announced that Iranian armed drones had targeted facilities and barracks on Kuwaiti territory the same day. Kuwaiti Defense Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said the military had been detecting and intercepting ballistic missiles and hostile drones since dawn, and that several Kuwaiti army personnel had been wounded. The ministry said their conditions were being monitored.
Kuwaiti authorities said air defense operations to intercept ballistic missiles and drones in Kuwaiti airspace were continuing. The developments come as the United States carries out successive air operations against Iranian territory and Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps targets American interests in Gulf states.
No further details on casualties or operational outcomes were immediately available.
