BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq has signed an agreement with SpaceX to deliver Starlink satellite-based internet services across the country. The deal is part of efforts to expand Iraq's telecommunications infrastructure, with officials saying the service is intended to address connectivity gaps in rural and underserved areas.
Starlink provides internet access through low-orbit satellites, enabling wide coverage without the need for extensive cable infrastructure. Iraqi officials said the service could improve access to digital platforms in education, health care and commerce, particularly in regions where ground-based networks are limited.
Officials also linked the rollout to wider digital transformation efforts in the region. They said further details on the technical arrangements, implementation timeline and priority locations would be announced in the coming period.
