WASHINGTON, United States โ€” A Pentagon internal investigation found that US airstrikes in Yemen in 2025 killed more than 150 civilians and wounded around 250 others, The Washington Post reported. The probe documented the civilian toll during the broad military campaign against the Houthis that President Donald Trump ordered in March 2025. According to the investigation, the Pentagon carried out strikes against more than 1,000 targets as part of the operation aimed at ending Houthi attacks on US warships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Investigators identified at least three incidents in which civilians were clearly harmed, while 15 separate cases remain under review. The Defense Department is expected to release the findings publicly in the coming months. The probe covered only US strikes against targets in Yemen and did not include operations related to Iran. The findings represent the Pentagon's first official assessment of civilian casualties from the campaign. Trump announced a pause in strikes in May 2025 after asserting that the Houthis had agreed to stop attacking ships in the Red Sea.
