BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” The UN special representative, Nikolai Mladenov, reported that Israeli airstrikes on multiple locations in the Gaza Strip have caused civilian casualties and damaged medical supply warehouses. He said the strikes began after Palestinian groups accepted the Ceasefire Roadmap. Mladenov outlined the diplomatic effort supporting the roadmap, naming Egypt, Turkey, Qatar and the United States as participants in the peace council and as mediators. The roadmap, he said, covers full implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan, the transfer of civilian administration and the handover of weapons. He also cited the Sharm el-Sheikh Agreement, describing it as binding obligations on all parties that secure the release of hostages. Mladenov said his team is working with mediators, regional partners and the various sides to de-escalate tensions and create conditions for the complete implementation of the Trump plan. He assessed that a lasting peace is difficult but achievable through the committed effort of all sides.
