LONDON โ The British government announced that a new law will take effect next month to implement stricter measures against groups acting in the interests of hostile states, including Iran.
According to Reuters, the legislation aims to target organizations that utilize organized crime groups or small-scale criminals to conduct surveillance, sabotage, and similar activities on behalf of foreign governments.
The regulation follows a series of arson attacks on Jewish targets in London, which British police are investigating for potential links to Iran. Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that activities by foreign states that threaten lives or undermine democratic institutions will have consequences.
MI5 reported that investigations into threats from other countries increased by 35% last year. Among these were 20 potential "lethal plots" linked to Iranian support.
