MIAMI โ Andrew and Tristan Tate, social media personalities with millions of followers, were taken into custody in Miami on a warrant issued by U.S. authorities. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the detention, with spokesperson Brady McCarron saying the action was carried out under the terms of the warrant.
British prosecutors announced late Saturday that they have requested the brothers' extradition to the United Kingdom on charges of rape and human trafficking. The Crown Prosecution Service said the alleged offenses are said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The brothers, who hold both American and British citizenship, are known for their misogynistic views. They moved to Romania in 2016 and were detained there in 2022 on accusations of luring women for sexual exploitation. They were released during the Romanian proceedings over procedural issues and have denied the charges.
The U.K. case file alleges that the brothers mistreated women in north London between 2012 and 2015; their lawyers have rejected the claims. No further details on a court date or extradition hearing were immediately available.
