Two Youths Drown in Diyala River Within One Hour

Two young men drowned in the Diyala River within one hour of each other in separate incidents near the Celevle area, approximately 70 kilometers northeast of Baghdad. The fatalities occurred near the village of Seyyid Ahmed and in the Eyun district. These represent the first recorded drowning cases in the province during the Eid al-Adha holiday period. Local authorities stated that the incidents occurred despite existing bans on swimming in the river due to dangerous currents and extreme depths. River police divers were deployed to the sites to recover the bodies as local residents assisted in the search efforts.
