The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) has launched a comprehensive nationwide security operation to eliminate remaining ISIS sleeper cells and destroy terrorist hideouts. The campaign spans a vast geographic area from Nineveh in the north to Basra in the south to enhance national stability and public safety.
Operational activities are being driven by intelligence reports and field surveillance, utilizing a combination of air and ground reconnaissance. The missions involve specialized K9 units and field engineering teams to locate and neutralize threats.
Targeted zones include the western desert of Nineveh, the Beji region in Saladin, and the deserts of Najaf, Anbar (Nehib), and Muthanna. Operations are also underway in the Badra region of Wasit, Mandali district in Diyala, Al-Fuhud district in Dhi Qar, and the desert regions of Basra.
These preventive measures aim to heighten security readiness and strengthen state control over remote areas. The CTS stated the campaign is essential for protecting citizens and ensuring overall public security.
