BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Two young people died by hanging in separate incidents in Baghdad and Diyala province, security sources said, with investigations opened in both cases. In Baghdad's Belediyat area, an 18-year-old man was found hanged with a rope from a gutter pipe attached to a residential fence, according to the sources. A forensic expert opened an inquiry after noting signs of suspicion at the scene.
In the town of Jalula, in northeastern Diyala, a girl born in 2008 and enrolled in the fifth grade died by hanging, the sources said. They cited psychological pressure and the difficult economic conditions linked to her mother's cancer as contributing factors. The girl was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, and her body was transferred to the forensic medicine department.
Both incidents are under investigation, the security sources added, with no further details immediately available.
