University fair opens in Erbil with scholarships, admissions services

ERBIL, Iraq — A two-day international and local university fair opened in Erbil on Wednesday alongside the 9th Scientific Conference, bringing together universities, institutes and other educational institutions from inside and outside the Kurdistan Region. The opening drew academics, diplomatic mission representatives and delegations from local and international institutions, organizers said. Exhibiting universities presented current programs in technology, medicine, engineering and the humanities, and announced scholarships and discounted tuition for high-achieving students. Officials at participating institutions said the offers were intended to ease the financial burden on families and reward academic performance. Visitors were offered on-site counseling on degree equivalency, admissions requirements and registration procedures, along with detailed information on cultural and academic exchange programs run by Iraqi and foreign universities. A high school graduate, Selaff Mohammed, said she was able to get direct answers about artificial-intelligence programs at the fair. Ramyar Ahmed, a representative of a participating university, described the event as a broad platform bringing together local and international educational standards.
