Two US media outlets sue Trump over Truth Social post fee scheme

NEW YORK — Two US media organizations have filed suit in New York against President Donald Trump over a fee-based early-access feature on his social media platform, Truth Social, known as "troll posts." The Intercept and the Press Freedom Foundation filed the complaint, calling the practice "corrupt and unconstitutional." The lawsuit says the early-access service can cost up to $100,000 a month, or $60,000 a month under a three-year subscription arrangement. According to the filing, the system channels income directly to Trump through his personal company in exchange for privileged access to information that can move markets. The plaintiffs argue the practice weakens their ability to report on Trump's activities and are asking the court to declare the service, called "Truth API," unlawful and to block future paid posts. A group of Democratic lawmakers has asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to open an investigation into the matter. Trump Media & Technology Group, which first announced the service in mid-July, has rejected the criticism. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said the company has signed agreements with 10 customers and has begun generating revenue.
