BAGHDAD, Iraq — A family dispute in the Deysım area of Baghdad escalated into a shooting in which one man killed his brother, then was fatally shot by the victim’s son. Security forces recovered a Kalashnikov rifle used in the attack and detained the surviving shooter, who confessed to the killing, according to officials.
In a separate incident in the Kzize area of Basra, a quarrel between children escalated into an armed clash that left two people wounded by gunfire to the legs. Law enforcement personnel detained those involved in the fight.
Authorities said investigations are continuing into both cases. They urged measures to prevent family disputes and children’s altercations from escalating into armed violence, without elaborating further.
