Two separate shootings kill two in north Basra, including teenage girl

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Two separate shooting incidents in northern Basra left one young man and a 15-year-old girl dead, according to local security sources. Security forces cordoned off the area and detained the suspect, who was later placed under arrest as part of the investigation. In a separate incident in the Ed-Dir district, north of Basra, a 15-year-old girl was shot in the chest and killed by a young man identified as her cousin. The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody following the shooting. Security units have launched broad investigations into both cases, the sources said.
