BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Two separate shooting incidents in northern Basra left one young man and a 15-year-old girl dead, according to local security sources. In the first incident, a tribal dispute in the Nashwa subdistrict escalated into an armed clash in which a young man was killed by a Kalashnikov-round to the chest. Security forces cordoned off the area and detained the suspect, who was later placed under arrest as part of the investigation.
In a separate incident in the Ed-Dir district, north of Basra, a 15-year-old girl was shot in the chest and killed by a young man identified as her cousin. The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody following the shooting.
Security units have launched broad investigations into both cases, the sources said. No further details were immediately available.
