BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” A traffic official in Saladin province said two civilians were injured on Saturday when a Tahoe car struck a large animal on the road between the town of Amerli and the Azim subdistrict on the Baghdad-Kirkuk highway. Ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene, and the injured were taken to hospital after receiving initial treatment, the official said, adding that the vehicle sustained material damage in the collision. In a separate incident, a security source in Diwaniyah said two people were killed and four others were injured in two accidents on Saturday on the Diwaniyah-Sinaiyah road in the city's central Amin neighborhood. The source said security forces cordoned off both crash sites, the bodies were transferred to the forensic morgue for identification and autopsy procedures, and the wounded were taken to the nearest medical facility. A security source in Diwaniyah added that the wounded were reported in stable condition. The same source said livestock crossing the road and excessive speed were identified as the main contributing factors in both Diwaniyah accidents. Across Saladin and Diwaniyah, Saturday's accidents left two people dead and a total of six injured.
