Two injured as truck crashes into checkpoint in Kirkuk

KIRKUK, Iraq — Two people were injured when a heavy cargo truck crashed into the Jameen checkpoint in northern Kirkuk, security sources said. The driver lost control of the vehicle, and the two injured included the driver and a civilian. The collision also damaged two parked cars at the checkpoint and a caravan belonging to the energy police, according to the sources. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, while civil defense teams were dispatched to the scene to manage the damage and secure the area. Authorities said an investigation has been opened to determine what caused the driver to lose control. They added that legal procedures are being followed in line with established protocols.
