Kurdistan Region Interior Minister says region targeted from multiple directions

ERBIL, Iraq — Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Riber Ahmed said the region is being targeted from multiple directions, with peshmerga, security forces and civilians suffering material and moral damage from attacks. Speaking at the closing ceremony of a national disaster risk management project in Erbil, Ahmed said the region would not accept being turned into a battlefield for other parties. The minister relayed that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi, following the formation of Iraq's new federal government, pledged that any attack on the Kurdistan Region from inside Iraq would trigger immediate action against those responsible. Ahmed said drone attacks on Erbil and other cities in recent days have caused material damage to public and private property. He noted that no concrete steps have been taken so far, but coordination is ongoing between Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the federal Prime Minister's office. The closing ceremony of the national disaster risk management project was held in Erbil.
