BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A traffic accident on a road connecting the Al-Allam town in the Tel Afar district with the Davor district in northern Saladin province injured two people and killed 30 sheep, local authorities reported Tuesday.
According to the information, the driver of a Toyota Camry was unable to avoid a flock of sheep that suddenly entered the road, colliding with the animals because of the vehicle's speed and the short stopping distance. The driver and a civilian passenger sustained injuries of varying severity and were transported by medical teams to the nearest hospital, where their condition was reported as stable.
The collision killed 30 sheep and caused serious damage to the front and chassis of the car. Authorities have begun an on-site inspection, filed an official report and opened an investigation into the incident.
The accident has renewed concern over livestock movement on outer roads north of Tikrit, where the lack of adequate protective measures and warning systems continues to pose risks to motorists connecting districts with nearby towns.
