ERBIL, Iraq โ Two drones targeted the office of the Kurdistan Regional Government prime minister and the residence of the region's security director on Wednesday, local authorities said.
The attack occurred in the area surrounding the prime ministerial building. The drone that struck the security director's residence caused material damage to the home. Security teams were dispatched to the scene and security measures in the surrounding area were reinforced.
Officials said an investigation into the attack had been launched. Regional security sources said examinations into the origin of the drones were continuing.
Because the targeted sites are not open to the public, initial response teams cleared the area. Authorities said technical work to identify the parties behind the strike was ongoing.
