Two deaths reported in Baghdad: one suicide, one self-immolation attempt

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A person died by suicide after jumping from the Ziynet Bridge in Baghdad on Wednesday, a security source said. The source reported that the individual jumped from the upper level of the bridge, which crosses the Tigris River in central Baghdad. Security forces have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident. In a separate incident in the Sadr City district of the capital, another person attempted self-immolation at home using oil, according to the same source. The individual was rescued before sustaining fatal burns and was reported to have a history of mental health issues. Neither victim was identified by name.
