ANKARA, Turkey โ The Turkish Grand National Assembly will host a NATO Parliamentary Summit in Istanbul on June 28-29, the legislature announced, convening parliamentary leaders ahead of the alliance's heads of state and government summit scheduled for early July in Ankara.
The two-day meeting, to be chaired by Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuล, will bring together parliamentary speakers, heads of delegations and senior representatives of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly from member states. Delegates are expected to discuss security, defense and the alliance's strategic priorities.
The summit is organized in cooperation with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and is designed to serve as a parliamentary consultative platform before the leaders' summit. The opening session will be held at Dolmabahรงe Palace in Istanbul.
It will be the third such parliamentary gathering organized by NATO, following two previous meetings held in the United States and Belgium.
