Tunisia has appointed French coach Hervé Rénard as interim manager of the national team following a 5-1 defeat by Sweden at the 2026 World Cup, the Tunisian Football Federation announced. The federation said Rénard will remain in charge through the end of the tournament.
The move came the same day Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed, hours after the heavy loss in Tunisia's opening Group F match in the tournament hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The federation added that talks on a longer-term contract could be opened after Tunisia's World Cup campaign ends, depending on the team meeting certain sporting targets.
Rénard left his post as head coach of Saudi Arabia roughly two months before the tournament began. No further details on the interim arrangement were immediately available.
