Trump says US will strike Iran 'strongly' tonight and tomorrow

WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday evening that the United States will carry out strong military strikes against Iran, announcing the operation during a U.S. radio interview. He described the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding as a test, adding that Tehran had not complied with it. Trump said the military operations could last two to three weeks. Commenting on his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said the two have had disagreements at times, which he conveyed directly, but described their ties as "very good." Meanwhile, Iran's Tasnim news agency, citing local sources, reported consecutive explosions Monday night in the city of Bandar Abbas. Tasnim said missile and air strikes hit Larke, while four powerful blasts were heard in Konarak. Air defense systems were activated in Bandar Abbas, and six explosions each were reported in Konarak and Chabahar. A Tasnim correspondent said the exact locations of the explosions had not yet been determined and that security forces were investigating. The agency also reported that several "out-of-rule" vessels in the Strait of Hormuz had been targeted and that Bandar Abbas air defenses had shot down a U.S.-made suicide drone. Iranian authorities had not issued an official statement.
