BAGHDAD, Iraq โ US President Donald Trump said the United States has largely weakened Iran's military capabilities, citing strikes on its armed forces and command structure. In a radio address, Trump said Iran's missile production capacity has become severely limited and that its fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles has shrunk significantly over the past five months, pointing to joint US-Israeli military operations targeting Iran.
Trump added that Iran would struggle to rebuild its military capabilities or make new advances.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington is preparing to impose "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran. Bessent said the economic measures would reduce the need for further large-scale military operations.
