BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A traffic police commissioner was seriously injured on Wednesday when a speeding vehicle struck him during duty in the Mansur district of western Baghdad, security sources said. The incident occurred at al-Likaa Square, where a driver born in 2003 lost control of the vehicle and hit the officer.
The commissioner was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment following the crash. Security forces quickly apprehended the driver, who had fled the scene, and took him into custody. The vehicle was also seized and placed under police protection.
An investigation has been launched into the incident, with relevant security units continuing their examination of the case, according to the sources.
