BAQUBA, Iraq โ Three suicide cases were recorded in Diyala province within hours on Tuesday, local security sources said, prompting investigations by security authorities.
In the first case, a man in his 40s employed by the Diyala Health Directorate hanged himself in a village southwest of the Habibe subdistrict, which falls under the provincial capital Baquba northeast of Baghdad. The sources attributed the act to psychological issues and marital problems. Security forces transferred the body to the forensic medicine unit and opened an investigation.
Hours later, a university student studying cybersecurity hanged himself at home in central Baquba, also citing psychological difficulties, according to the same sources. Earlier the same day, a man in his 30s with a history of mental health issues shot himself with a Kalashnikov rifle at his home in the Al-Mafrek neighborhood of the city center.
Security units in Diyala said they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the three deaths. No further details were immediately available.
