BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A woman was injured after shooting herself at her home in the Belediyat area in eastern Baghdad, security sources said. Initial information indicated the incident was linked to financial difficulties, and a forensic specialist ordered an investigation due to doubts over the circumstances. The woman sustained leg wounds, according to the sources.
In a separate incident in southern Dhi Qar, a 25-year-old woman died after ingesting a poisonous substance at her home in the Hayy al-Abbas neighborhood of al-Shuyukh district. Sources said the woman had psychological problems. Her body was transferred to the forensic morgue pending legal procedures.
Separately, the body of a 27-year-old man was recovered from the Tigris River north of Mosul after he drowned while swimming, river patrol teams said. The body was handed over to the forensic department, and security forces opened an investigation into the incident.
